Plaza de profesor-investigador en Corea del Sur

Los coreanos han hecho cosas sorprendentes en los últimos años. Basta ver sus indicadores de desarrollo en los 1970's, muy similares a los mexicanos. Tres décadas más tarde Corea del Sur no se parece en NADA a México, ha sabido invertir en investigación, en educación y en diseño. Y los resultados están allí, en su economía y su impresionante nivel de innovación.

Si bien este blog es sobre posgrados, también aborda lo que viene después: la labor de investigación ya sea en el ámbito académico o en la industria o instituciones.

Del KAIST de Corea llega hoy esta oferta para egresados del doctorado en diseño. Entre las ventajas está un salario muy atractivo, un fondo respetable para arrancar un laboratorio (un millón de pesos), departamento, gastos de traslado, y desde luego el prestigio de una institución en pleno proceso de desarrollo con gran reconocimiento internacional. Assistant Professor: USD 60,000 - 70,000 per annum Associate
Professor: USD 70,000 - 80,000 per annum, according to
experience

Requirements

The candidate will have:

1) Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant discipline;
2) Outstanding research and teaching skills;
3) Excellent command of verbal and written English (classes
will be run in English);
4) Aptitude for teamwork and multi-disciplinary approach;
5) Strong interpersonal skills;
6) Strong organizational and administrative skills;
7) Strong motivation for hard work and harmony with other
members of faculty and staff.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a
minimum of 6 credits a year at undergraduate and postgraduate
levels, setting up his/her own research lab, securing funded
research and industrial projects, conducting their own research
which will be disseminated through international journals,
conferences, design competitions, etc. He/she will also be
responsible for taking both educational and pastoral care of the
students (including tutorials and thesis supervision),
participating in committees, assessment/interview sessions,
various administrative and organizational work for educational
and departmental affairs.
